Joe Barnes’s Search for the Steep
Earlier in the year we challenged Joe Barnes to travel Europe to find the most technically challenging and steepest trails imaginable – and then fling himself down them. With the help of some special guests, and a sprinkling of local knowledge, Joe set about searching them out.
In episode one, he travelled to the Portuguese island of Madeira to hook up with fellow Enduro World Series racer, Iago Garay. Barnes had vague memories of visiting the trails around the area as a child but would that translate into flat-out riding? Check out the video in the player above to find out.

2014 Red Bull Hardline
Hardline was built to push the world's best riders to their limits - see how they fared on race day.
Dan Atherton wanted to build a course that pushed the world's best to their limits. So, in a mere six weeks, he took a piece of Welsh hillside, a tonne of man-hours and built one of the most demanding racetracks ever seen.
Cue, gnarly rock gardens, giant slab rolls, tight woods sections, technical natural features and a giant man-made road gap. Add nine of the world's best downhillers and you have the very first Hardline race.
