YT Announces The IZZO A Short Travel 29" Shredder

April 17,2020–Forchheim, Germany:YT is shaking things up and their portfolio has an added dimension now by introducing asharp-looking trail bike to the family. The IZZO is born! The carbon-framed 130 mm-travel trail bikewith 29-inch wheelsfills a void for YT and is destined touncork Good Times forriders onafter-work rides through local woodlandsas well asduringtrans alpine adventures.Possibly the fastest, most agile and sharpest, but certainly the raddest bike introduction of the year:

YT’s lightest bikeis set for adventures both big and smallAfter downhill, enduroand all-mountain the direct brand bringstheir first trail bike to the mix. As both the CAPRA (180mm/180mm & 170mm/170mm travel) and the JEFFSY (160mm/160mm & 150mm/150mm travel) boast increased travel across the range for 2020, the IZZO (130mm/130mm travel) perfectly caters for those riders out there looking to ride trails and embrace the uphill just as much as the downhill –no matter where they are in the world. The IZZO is YT’s lightweight contender and comes in four model variations: IZZO Launch Edition (12.0 kg, limited to 150 pieces in Europe & USA), IZZO Pro Race (12.1 kg), IZZO Pro (12.6 kg), IZZO Comp (13.2 kg). Inspired by the sleek and simple design, yet impressive precision and effectiveness of the Katana sword used by Samurai in ancient Japan, the IZZO has been developed to be a fast, agile and sharp bike in both form and function.

The IZZO has been constructed to defy all challenges a trail ride can throw your way. The key aspects of development were uphill climbing ability, pedal efficiency and weight, while still considering the fun-loving YT DNA. Each model is available in sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL spanning a reach from 429 mm to 513 mm, and every model variation has the exact same high-performance carbon frame. The cutting edge climbing characteristics of the bike are courtesy of a steep seat tube angle of 69°/69.5° (act) paired with low stack height and low weight. This combination will let riders conquer grueling uphill climbs with ease. The geometry can also be adjusted thanks to the Flip Chip, which drops the BB by 5 mm and results in a 0.5°-slacker head and seat tube angle. The playful YT feel is ensured thanks to an active, progressive suspension –YT’s first 4-bar suspension linkage by the way –and the relatively short chainstays that differ for sizes S to L (432 mm) and XL to XXL (437 mm). This progressive but not overly aggressive and well-balanced geometry, paired with a great kit, will ensure Good Times on backyard trails and long days in the saddle alike.

“We created the Izzo for people that love to ride mountain bikes in the original spirit of mountain biking. Get outthere, go far, go hard, go long, and get lost. It’s a lightweight, great pedaling bike that encourages you to just go. While it is light and efficient, it’s still a ton of fun on DH and tech sections. We wanted to build a bike that was just as fun and capable on climbs and flats as it is on downhills. A lot of riders love to push their limits and endurance, explore new trails, and ride all day. We built this bike for those riders. And for ourselves.”–Chris Hilton, CTO YT Industries

Let’s be honest: not all of us can boast the luxury of having mountainous terrain on our doorstep. With that in mind, the IZZO has been developed and spec’d with lighter tires and rims and 130 mm travel to deliver the perfect performance balance for the trail category. The Launch Edition is limited to 150 bikes worldwide, and boasts high-performance and high-tech components, while the unique colorway is a feast for your eyes. Both a FOX 34 Float Factory fork and FOX Float DPS Factory rear suspension deliver the goods when the terrain gets rough. The premium SRAM Eagle AXS drivetrain guarantees effortless, cableless shifting and the AXS package is rounded off with the SRAM Reverb AXS. The Pro Race, Pro and Comp models come with variations of FOX 34 fork, FOX Float DPS rear suspension, SRAM drivetrains and brakes, and with the FOX Transfer Factory or YT Postman dropper posts to complete the package. Both the newly designed Thirstmaster 5000 (835 ml) and the Thirstmaster 4000 (600 ml) FID LOCK bottle fit in the frame snugly and willensure you always stay hydrated when out on a ride. An adapter also offers the choice of fitting a regular bottle cage as well, to suit all rider’s needs. Bolts below the top tube allow for fixing a utility belt to carry spares and tools to help you on the trailside. Custom to YT’s way of taking care of details, maintenance and servicing are simple, thanks to the ‘single sided hardware access’ enabling the suspension linkage and rear triangle hardware to be installed and removed from the same side. The ‘race-specific advanced sealing concept’ and ‘axial-lip-seal’ prolong the service life of the IZZO, thanks to additional seals that protect the double-sealed full complement bearings and keep water and dirt at bay.

Guerrilla Gravity Announces The Gnarvana A Trail Bike That Knows No Limits

Ripping down the steepest, chunkiest, fall-line trails is a zen-like experience, simultaneously losing all sense of self and becoming one with your bike. This flow state requires the right tool for the job, a bike that knows no limits, instilling a daredevil’s confidence and monk’s focus. Chasing this feeling is what inspired Guerrilla Gravity (GG) to develop the Gnarvana.

The Denver, Colorado manufacturer’s latest development pairs 160 mm of Freedom Linkage-controlled travel with 29” wheels to create a bike fast enough to outrun your professional distractions and release yourself from terrestrial bonds. Come as you are and ascend to the next level with Gnarvana.

The main frame of Gnarvana is built using Revved™ Carbon Technology, the evolution of traditional carbon fiber. Just as you will be reborn on your path to Gnarvana, Revved is carbon fiber born anew with advanced resin chemistry that is both impact-resistant and environmentally-conscious, because your bike should be tough enough to withstand a drop from the unspoilt heavens.

Gnarvana is the fifth model built on the GG Modular Frame Platform.

When designing the Modular Frame Platform, Guerrilla Gravity was excited at the possibilities of using Seastay Tuning Kits to change the way its riders experience a new bike day. Rather than purchasing several bikes for each discipline, their designers envisioned a future where your bike choice is no longer a compromise but a new way to adapt to your terrain and riding requirements. This flexibility allows riders to swap between 120, 145, and 160 mm 29” wheel platforms depending on the locale. If big achievements on little wheels is more your style, there are also 130-140, and 155-165 mm variants for 27.5 fans. Gnarvana is your own personal utopia, ready to deploy at a moment’s notice.

So, if you already own a Modular Frame Platform equipped GG bike, you can use a Gnarvana Seatstay Tuning Kit (sold individually) to convert your bike into the latest in trail-taming technology. Depending on your existing bike configuration and desired change in ride quality, shocks, forks, and wheelsets are available with Seatstay Tuning Kit orders to complete your conversion.

“With Gnarvana, you have ultimate line choice freedom, just point it straight over or through whatever you want.” - Chief Enginerd Matt

How does The Smash stack up to Gnarvana? The Gnarvana’s chainstay length has been stretched out to 450 mm, balancing the rider between the wheels so they can focus on what’s ahead of them. The extra stability from the lengthened chainstays, 15 mm more squish out back and 20 mm more of rock-smashing forgiveness up front (adding up to 170 mm fork travel) combine to erase any bad decisions made in a former life. Additionally, its 63.7 degree head tube angle (compared to The Smash’s 64.7 degrees) gives riders additional control to process trail inputs and respond with the best path to enlightenment.

Gnarvana Geometry

Gnarvana is available in a power trio of customizable build kits plus a frameset option starting at $2195 for those wishing to build their own bike. GG Modular Frame Platform owners can convert their frames for $445 using Gnarvana Seatstay Tuning Kits (add the 230 x 65 shock of your choice and get a discount).

Each of the three build kits (Ride, Rally, and Race) are curated using components guaranteed to hold up to the familiar cycles of shred and rebirth. GG riders demand nothing less and build kits are completely customizable based on your preferences. Be sure to click “Customize Build” on the newly revamped website to swap components around.

Guerrilla Gravity Announces The Municipal Haste

From the same team of Guerrilla Gravity mad scientists that brought you the four-bikes-in-one Modular Frame Platform comes the Municipal Haste, a category-defying townhill bike.

This made-in-Colorado frameset was born to party and encourages rowdy riding straight out of your front door. And if you’re saying to yourself, “This looks just like a Pedalhead with an old road bike group on it,” you should finish your drink and take another look, because that’s the only way you’ll be seeing double chainrings on this path-thrashin’ machine.

If you’ve ever eyed a loading dock drop or 6-stair gap on your way to the dive bar, the Municipal Haste is there as your own personal beer-pressure support system. Think of it as your own little shotgun-riding devil, pointing out every curb-cut huck or speed bump jump. Embrace every two-wheeled bad decision with gleeful abandon and an adolescent disregard for safety.

The Municipal Haste has some big shoes to fill given Guerrilla Gravity’s rich history of Secret Menu mutations made possible by various combinations of shocks, wheels, and Seatstay Tuning Kits on their Modular Frame Platform.

You may have heard of their MegaSmash mullet-thrasher or Pistola sniper-line-finder. When assembling these wild mutants, GG encourages you to customize your new bike and put together the ultimate expression of who you want to be as a bike, personified. Especially if your idea of expression is that of a debauched pirate raiding your roadie friend’s treasure trove of old parts. Eye patches are encouraged.

While some of you think this is an elaborate April Fool’s joke, GG encourages you to spin the dial back to April 1, 2017 when the Shred Dogg was first announced with their game changing ideas, like Laid Back™ geometry and Ass Drop™ technology.

Three years later, it’s one of their most popular bikes!

Guerrilla Gravity is so convinced that you’ll have 11% better shreds that they are now offering 11% off all Municipal Haste frames and complete bikes, plus free shipping inside the US and Canada. Framesets and complete bikes set sail within 4 weeks, customized to your component specifications.

Pivot Cycles Announces The Phoenix 29

The Phoenix 29 rises from the success of its predecessor to be the next evolution in downhill speed and performance.  Working alongside the Factory Race Team, our engineers started with a blank sheet of paper in order to build the downhill rig of their dreams. Everything needed to change – chassis, geometry, suspension design, and of course, wheel size. The team wanted an ultra-fast, low slung speed machine that’s ready to blaze down the gnarliest of World Cup tracks. It also needed to be capable of sending it big on countless bike park laps. Well, we have good news – you don’t have to dream. The Phoenix 29 is real. And it’s really fast.

Geometry

From the wide-open ski slopes of Les Gets to the treacherously steep roots and rocks of Val di Sole, the Phoenix 29 let our Factory Race Team push their personal limits like nothing else. That’s because from day one our race team was highly involved with the Phoenix 29 design. Working closely with our engineering team, the racers provide direct feedback after testing prototypes in the best way possible: World Cup racing. Initial goals of keeping the ride feel as similar to the 27.5 version they loved so much were quickly superseded with advancing a bike that is even better. The Phoenix 29 is quite simply the fastest, most capable World Cup DH bike on the planet.

The legendary performance of dw-link suspension is now packaged in a lower, more compact 190mm travel design. This increases overall stiffness, lowers the center of gravity, and looks rad. A short upper link also plays nice with both coil and air shocks by reducing side loads and overall friction in the system. We’ve always offered a wide range of sizes in our bikes and this linkage layout allows the same on the Phoenix 29. Standover height is even lower than the 27.5 model, and it’s available in sizes ranging from S-XL. Riders of all heights and genders can get sendy and feel the raw speed of a Phoenix 29.

Without a doubt, 29er wheels roll faster, smooth out rough courses and carry a ridiculous amount of momentum. They offer improved tracking and braking in turns too. Short 17” (44.3mm) chainstays add ‘playful’, ‘flickable’ and ‘manuals for days’ to its repertoire. This makes it incredibly fun in a bike park, and extremely quick in tight, technical wooded sections. Whether it’s your job to win races at the highest level or you want to session the bike park with friends, the Phoenix 29 is insanely fun and always fast.

We sweat the small details so you can ride fast and work less. The frame has a low Q-factor design that can run trail bike width cranks for cornering pedal clearance. A Pivot innovated Super Boost Plus rear hub enhances rear wheel stiffness and durability too. And when the time comes to work on the Phoenix, our cable port system with integrated fork bumpers makes routine maintenance easy peasy. Not only does the new linkage layout makes shock swaps a snap, but you’ll have to service them less often as well. Painstaking attention to detail is just one of the many factors that make the Phoenix 29 the most advanced DH race bike we’ve ever created.

Scott Introduces The Gambler Tuned

The all NEW Gambler Tuned was designed for one thing and one thing only, pure, unadulterated speed. We made it to get you to take lines you’d never thought imaginable, to make you want to go to the bathroom before your race run - twice. We made it so that when you drop out of the start gate, the only aspect holding you back will be, well, you. Taking years of racing development and mixing it with our carbon expertise, this bike is our answer to the needs of white-knuckle downhill racing.

Adjustability

Our downhill bikes have always pushed the boundaries of adjustability. Both a rider and a bike need to be able to adapt to tracks, weather conditions and choice of shock (air or coil.) The new Gambler allows you to switch between wheelsizes without changing any other components on the bike.

Chain stay length can also be adjusted, independent of wheelsize choice. Short with 29”, sure thing. Long with 27.5? Yep, that too. The Gambler also comes with spare angled headset cups, so that you can adjust head angle relative to wheelsize, fork choice etc.

We also have a 4-way chip to allow not only bottom bracket height adjustment relative to wheelsize, but more importantly for geometry/kinematic tweaks depending on tracks, shocks or rider preference. We want the bike to be optimizable for each shock and rider given the track.

All this adjustment allows us to focus on balance. And by balance, we mean on the perfect combinations to find traction. Geometry and shock curve options help get a rider’s center of mass in the perfect spot between the wheels for optimum levels of balance and traction. However, as race tracks change, this balance point changes, and not all bikes can change with it – we wanted to be able to do so.

For instance, a bike with geometry for a steep track will roll slowly and push wide in turns on a flatter track, whereas a bike set up for flatter tracks will make it difficult for a rider to keep their center of gravity far enough back for steep tracks.

Geometry

Compared to previous Gambler platforms, we now offer 4 sizes – S, M, L and XL. All sizes have been upsized and modernized with regards to geometry, providing an option for riders of all sizes. We don’t need to tell you any more about how the bike’s geometry is dialed for the job it has, but we do have some interesting points to mention. Saddle position is often very critical for racers, especially shorter ones. If a saddle that CAN give enough extra tire clearance to lower, or slide back the saddle by 10mm, it can make a huge difference. With the Gambler, we steepened the seat tube angle on the small and medium sized frames, which allows smaller riders to keep their saddle low and to avoid the dreaded tire buzz. For larger riders, we made sure to keep the saddle out of the leg area leaving riders free to move around in the air, in corners etc.
