EWS 3: Three’s a Crowd, Wicklow Highlights

After last year’s amazing event, everyone was looking forward to returning and it didn’t disappoint. The crowds were even bigger and miraculously the sun was also out once again.
Last year we saw local hero Greg Callaghan take the win, the swarming excitable crowds all clearly wanted a repeat. With Tracy Moseley also back for a recess from her retirement, it was always going to be an exciting race to see if these two riders, the crowd and the venue could repeat last years magic. We certainly weren’t disappointed. It was drama at every turn.

Devinci Global Racing in BC

Devinci Global Racing’s top athletes recently met in British Columbia, where they gave fresh bikes and new race kits a proper workout across a bevy of the province’s best trails. Heading into World Cup #1 in Lourdes, France, the 2016 DH squad will once again be led by Steve Smith who, after a hard-charging offseason, is hungry to be back hunting podiums. “I'm stoked to be coming into the races feeling fit and awesome on my bike again,” he says. Here, Smith joins last year’s breakout sensation Mark Wallace and Norwegian newcomer Brage Vestavik to rip rainforest laps from Vancouver Island’s Mount Prevost to Squamish and Cypress Mountain on Vancouver’s Lower Mainland. DGR Enduro elites, Damien Oton and Theo Galy, who just pocketed 3rd place team of the day at EWS #1 in Corral, Chile, also make an appearance, with filmmaker Rob Parkin and photograßpher Sterling Lorence capturing the high-wattage riding.

“It was great to have the whole team in Vancouver,” says Wallace. “We got in tons of riding on the new bikes and it was cool to hang with everyone in a non-race environment—that doesn't happen often.”

2016 Yeti/Fox World Enduro Team

The Yeti/Fox Racing team gets a shot of new blood this year with the high style and gravity expertise of Cody Kelley, winner of the 2014 Dual Slalom at Sea Otter. Kelley comes under the wing of 2016’s team leader and Enduro World Series (EWS) Champion Richie Rude, a five-year Yeti veteran racer who came on board at the age of 16 before taking the 2013 Junior DH World Champion title. Despite his young age, Rude’s experience and two world championships will prove valuable as the team continues to focus on enduro. Returning riders Mike West, Chris Heath, and Josh Snow round out Yeti’s national squad. 2016 Yeti/Fox Team Sponsors - Maxxis - Shimano - DT Swiss - Ergon - Renthal - ION - OneUp - Giro - Chris King - Feedback - Pedro’s - Stages Cycling - Victory Circle Graphics - Honey Stinger Riders: Cody Kelley / Richie Rude Filmed & Directed by: Justin Olsen
