Danny MacAskill's Gymnasium

New Year, New Tricks. Scottish Trials Bike legend Danny MacAskill shows us in his new film ‘Gymnasium’ that there are other ways to make your mark in the gym. Not a regular gym-goer by his own admission, YouTube sensation Danny stars in his new film and attempts to show the world that staying in shape doesn’t have to be daunting. In his latest return to our screens, Danny seeks refuge from the ‘New Year, New Me’ craze by creating his personalised fitness playground in a long forgotten hall at his local sports complex. Even though performing a perfect bar routine while still on two wheels isn’t for everyone, Danny has found that it’s a case of no chain, no gain as he’s able to do what he loves and stay in shape at the same time.

Danny MacAskill’s Wee Day Out

Want to see what Danny MacAskill does on his day off? "Wee Day Out" explores the rural landscape around Edinburgh in a film that sets out to capture the simple fun of a ride in the country with moments of incredible riding and a touch of humor. Danny pulls off never-seen-before tricks, most of which would normally be assumed impossible on a mountain bike, like leaping onto a single train track, turning a hay bale into a giant unicycle, riding over a cottage, and disappearing into a 6ft puddle. Oh, and keep an eye out for a cameo from Danny's dad, Peter!

Danny MacAskill Cascadia

Scottish bike trials rider, Danny MacAskill escapes the northern winter for an exotic ride along Gran Canaria’s rooftops. Danny MacAskill Cascadia is a new video filmed by Mount Creative and shot 100% on GoPro cameras. Danny’s lighthearted ride across Gran Canaria’s rooftops is a playful depiction of how the street trials icon reads an urban environment. The stomach turning ‘point of view’ footage is guaranteed to test your vertigo threshold!

Danny MacAskill returns to our screens with a brand new, all GoPro clip, packed with good vibes and amazing riding. Balancing, dropping and jumping over rooftops on the Spanish Island of Gran Canaria, the Scottish mountain bike hero reignites the summer feeling with his new, inspiring video. “I really wanted to go all out on this GoPro clip” – said Danny MacAskill. Immune to the effect of vertigo, Danny was free to maneuver his way around the city from a unique perspective. “The architecture, colors and lifestyle with all the animals on Gran Canaria really spoke to me, and straight away I knew this would be perfect for what I wanted to create. I wanted people watching to really feel the vertigo which is why I wanted to be riding right on the edge, capturing GoPro POV footage.”

Shot by Mount Creative using numerous camera angles, GoPro mounts and drone footage – the clip takes the viewer on a sunny journey, bringing to life the local culture with a heavy dash of adrenaline. “I have filmed with Danny before but everyone really outdid themselves on this one!” - comments Robbie Meade from Mount Creative. Danny was keen to finish the clip with a bang, leaving viewers breathless – needless to say, mission accomplished. “I really wanted to finish the clip with something memorable, so a 70-foot (20 meters) front flip from one of the rooftops into the sea seemed about right. After a few speed checks, I just went for it and the cameras caught it perfectly so thankfully I didn’t have to do it again. It was actually quite good fun!”

This is Drop and Roll

Munich, November 26th 2015 – As the 2016 Drop and Roll Tour dates are being booked, Danny MacAskill and his Drop and Roll team have released what is by far the most ambitious Drop and Roll production to date. Conceptualized and developed during countless hours of travelling between shows, This Is Drop and Roll was always going to be something just a little different. Watch the full YouTube clip here: https://youtu.be/bV0zxgDZUhI

Despite various shows across Europe over the past two years, the production of the new film brought the team together for an extended period. The Young gun from Austria Fabio Wibmer joined Danny MacAskill, Duncan Shaw, and Ali Clarkson at their Glasgow base to film in a warehouse on the outskirts of the city.

With just a few days to get the clip he needed at the start of the production, it was up to Fabio to get the ball rolling.

“When Danny, Duncan and Ali asked me to be part in the new Drop and Roll video I knew that there was something big in the making. When filming with these guys, there is definitely pressure to come up with some good and creative lines, but in the end I was pretty happy with the tricks I managed to pull. The whole project has definitely given me some inspiration for new videos and ideas.”

Fresh off the back of two successful clips shot in Barcelona and Cardiff at the beginning of the year, veteran Ali Clarkson was keen to pick up where he left off.

“To be able to take part in projects like this is a great opportunity for me. It was great fun dressing up and acting like an idiot with the guys and everyone managed to outdo themselves riding wise. I can't wait to see people's reactions to the video; it's a little different from the norm. I hope we can do something like this again.”

For team manager and rider, Duncan Shaw, the video marked a massive challenge from both a riding and production perspective.

“This has definitely been the hardest yet most rewarding production I have ever been a part of and after talking about this for so long it is awesome to finally release it to the world. I have never produced or ridden in a project on this scale so it has definitely been a steep learning curve, but in the end it has definitely been worth it.“

After several years of producing solo content, having the opportunity to work on a project with a team of riders was a different ball game for Danny MacAskill.

“I am so flipping excited about this clip. It has been a long time coming and I managed to pull a couple of tricks, which have been on my mind for years. After performing live shows for years, we wanted to finally introduce Drop and Roll to the world with a bang so we knew we would have to think outside the box and come up with something different and I think we have just about managed that.”

After impressing on previous projects as a camera operator Danny and Duncan felt This is Drop and Roll marked the perfect time for Robbie Meade of Mount Creative to take a director’s role.

“I’ve worked with Danny as Movi/Steadycam operator on Imaginate and Epecuen. It was a massive deal for me to be given the director’s role. I definitely felt the pressure to deliver on this but once the filming started it all went pretty smoothly and I am proud of what we have done.“

The Drop and Roll team have spent the last two years performing their live street trial shows across Europe at events like Red Bull Air Race (UK), Eurobike (GER) and Riva Bike Festival (ITA). The next bookings are already coming in and the first show in 2016 is announced for January 6th in Sheffield, UK. The team also recently appeared for the first time outside of Europe in Cape Town (RSA) during the Engen Cycle in the City festival. They hope to make their live shows across the Atlantic as well in the near future. Anyone interested in booking the Drop and Roll team can email: dropandroll@rasoulution.com
